Our Alaska RV Adventure continues as we leave the breathtaking beauty of Waterton Lakes National Park and head north toward one of Canada’s most iconic destinations—Banff National Park.
Before reaching Banff, we make an unforgettable stop at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, where we learn about thousands of years of Indigenous history and the remarkable hunting traditions of the Plains Peoples. It’s a fascinating and humbling experience that adds an entirely different perspective to our journey through western Canada.
From there, we arrive at Banff National Park and settle into one of the park’s hard-to-book national park campgrounds, the perfect base for exploring the Canadian Rockies.
In this episode we:
✅ Visit the remarkable Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump World Heritage Site
✅ Explore the beautiful mountain town of Banff
✅ Hike the scenic Hoodoos Trail
✅ Walk around the stunning turquoise waters of Emerald Lake
✅ Discover spectacular waterfalls and breathtaking mountain vistas ✅ Hike Johnston Canyon to the incredible Lower Falls
✅ Take on the legendary Lake Agnes Tea House hike above Lake Louise
The highlight of this adventure is one we’ll never forget. Only six months after undergoing double knee replacement surgery, Nancy sets out to accomplish a dream she’s had for years—hiking the steep climb to the famous Lake Agnes Tea House. It’s a challenging uphill trek, but through determination and perseverance, she reaches the top and achieves a goal that once seemed out of reach. Watching her complete this hike made this one of the most rewarding moments of our entire Alaska adventure.
Whether you’re planning an Alaska Highway road trip, exploring the Canadian Rockies, or simply looking for inspiration for your next bucket-list vacation, Banff National Park is a destination that truly lives up to the hype.
Come along as we continue our journey toward Alaska while discovering why Banff is one of the world’s most spectacular national parks.
